Humber Barge Waterdog

Waterdog slowly approaching a bridge over a lock in the canal des Ardennes, the locks were so close together that there was not time to get up to cruising speed before slowing the boat down to get into the next lock.

As we rise to the top in each lock the next lock was already triggered and getting ready. Below you can see that our lock gates have not opened yet and the next lock has a green traffic light for us and the gates are open ready. It seems quite efficient and means the smaller boats can do all 27 locks in about 5 or 6 hours. Waterdog is a bit slower to manoeuvre in and out of the locks, which is why we stopped halfway.

Le Chesney.

A commercial barge slipped between our moored boats without touching either of us, nice helming.
