Humber Barge Waterdog

Here are some residents of Revin together with ducks, Greebs, Swallows and Sand Martins.

We had noticed that Waterdog tended smack her steel topsides on lock walls and nip our fender ropes like a guillotine when we move around in the locks. The black zig-zag fenders have to stay low as some lock walls are only a few feet high so I made some macrami fenders from old polyethylene ropes, these ropes had proved to be too stretchy for use as mooring ropes in our first season in France in 2008. I am sure we had taken the ropes past their normal working load limits a few times so I reverted to my 70's roots and made these new fenders. They look really good and subsequently did a great job.

WOW, this scenery was just stunning! This was in an approach to a lock, there is sometimes a stretch of a kilometre or so of canal alongside the river, separated from the river by a strip of land (on the right here). It was so green and had such height and majesty, wow.
