With the slight easing of lockdown came trips out to Aldbrough for picnics on the beach. Then there was paddling on the Deben, which was Lorna’s happy place.

Below, sailing his H2 in the sunny afternoon sea breeze, Lawrence’s was in his happy place.

Several of the boats on our quay flew the LGBT flag in support of the cancelled pride week in Woodbridge. The growing movement for tolerance for all is great and we’ll hope to join in the proper march next year when the pandemic is under control.

In August club racing was allowed just in time for a beautiful sunny DYC regatta week, we had about 50 boats out in 3 fleets. A whole week of nice breezes and sunshine, it was like a proper summer festival with us jumping in the river to cool off most days after the races. Lawrence came 3rd overall in the fast fleet of 15 boats, every day was hard fought with the 3 H2s doing very well, it was brilliant! We could also man a safety boat together as a bubble so we were happy to help with that, some people pulled out due to shielding from corronavirus.

In the summer a first year Herring Gull claimed our starboard aft mooring post and we had a local artist ‘Spag’ put one of his Cormorants on our port aft mooring post.
