At Pollington lock 50 years on

Pollington lock

The great escape! Phew. The same Lock as in the black and white photo on the homepage from the 1950's photo. It was great to be away from the noise, dirt and grind of Knottingley. Nice people but a hard place.

We had built a temporary 2x2 frame over the steering position to drape the tarp over so we could have access until a real top could be made.

The lock keeper recognised 'Waterdog' and fetched a large black & white print of this barge coming away from this lock in the 1950s. When Waterdog had been towed to Goole for scrap in 1996 he had been given the large wall print from our stairwell and had hung it in his lock keepers house. We were happy that this original had been kept within the canal network and that we had a smaller copy to keep.
